The Bar-M Wranglers perform at the Bar-M Chuckwagon seven miles north of Moab, Utah. Just outside Arches National Park, the Bar-m is set in an Old West town with a gift shop, saloon, games and breathtaking views of the desert, Arches and the Lasal mountains. As the sun sets, guests enjoy gunfight re-enactments, an authentic cowboy supper and a live western stage show featuring the Old West music and comedy of the Bar-M Wranglers. Rain or shine, the cowboy supper and music show are held in a beautiful, climate-controlled, barn style dining room.
Alan Brown - Head Wrangler,
Electric and Acoustic Lead Guitar, Lead and Harmony Vocals. Originally
from central Illinois, Alan toured through out the U. S., Canada and
Europe with the internationally famous group Up With People. Alan performed
for many years in New York, Atlantic City and Nashville before moving
to Utah and taking over the Bar-M Chuckwagon. He sports a fine handlebar
mustache and is also the Camp Cook!
Valerie Hunt Brown - Lead and Harmony Vocals, Acoustic Guitar,
Mandolin. A Utah native, Valerie played the night club scene in Salt
Lake City before moving to Nashville. In Nashville she toured with recording
artist Terri Gibbs and was one-third of the music and comedy trio Ethel
and the Shameless Hussies. The "Hussies" recorded one album
for MCA records, appeared on numerous TV shows and toured extensively.
The group disbanded in 1990. Valerie is thrilled to be back home in
Utah!
Clay Maxam hails from the great Northwestern United States. He
played music professionally back in the 50's, 60's and 70's and then
took a break from his music career to pursue other goals. An energetic
retiree and RV traveler, Clay decided to dust off the pedal steel guitar
and resume his musical interests. Clay is featured nightly in the Bar-M
shoot-out and stage show. He shines on the intricate pedal steel guitar
and also plays the Dobro in the Bar-M show. He is an integral part of
the Bar-M operation as well as a fabulous addition to
the Bar-M Wranglers band. Clay and his lovely wife Judi
are proud parents and grandparents. They make Moab their home during
the Bar-M season.
Lou Gilloti was born and raised on a farm in southwestern Connecticut where music
was as plentiful as the crops. The last of a musical family of 10, Lou
started his musical efforts on the mandolin at the age of 6. Over the
next 20 years he played with family bands and other area bands and many
different venues. In 1964 Lou moved
to Maine and for the next 18 years he continued his musical growth.
He added 3 years of television experience to his venue list as a part
of a locally produced TV show that was top rated for 3 years running. A move to Colorado for a Ranch Foreman
job gave Lou the opportunity to experience the Chuckwagon operations
of the west. The music was familiar to him but the concept of providing
a meal beforehand was new. Lou is a diverse sideman with fiddle, guitar,
banjo, mandolin and now bass guitar as his weapons of choice. “It’s
still fun and still challenging. I hope to play for a long time yet.”
Says Lou.
Ed Bridges is the "new guy"
in the Bar-M Wranglers band as of 2007. He adds depth and
dimension to the music playing his Up-right Electric Bass. He may even toss a little trumpet break into the mix now and then for fun. Ed was born and raised in Nebraska. While serving in the military
he performed with the United States Army Band. About
that time he married a Moab, Utah girl (51+ years ago), they moved to Washington Sate and Ed continued his education. Ed
earned a B.A. and M.A. in music education and taught instrumental music for 18 years. In 1970 Ed started a 25 year career
of commercial salmon fishing. He then retired to Mexico
(Los Barriles, B.C.S.) but moved back to the states and
Moab to watch a grandson grow up and to be cowboy.
